I start with the lower teeth for 1 simple reason. Most horses have very sharp teeth here especially in the back. Removing these sharp points first quickly establishes with the horse just what my intentions are. The turn around in attitude of the horse is dramatic and can be seen here in these videos. While the job is a long way from being done and other painful spots will be addressed in the mouth, the horse usually is more cooperative when understanding has occurred.
