Finding someone these days who loves to work and loves what he does, who is on time, respectful, AND is a horseman AND floats teeth is something we all should be grateful for. Brandon Gager is such a man and now he is working with The Equine Practice, Inc.
Brandon brings his experience of over 20 years to this practice. His style and philosophy matches completely. One client asked if he was my brother, unable to really tell the difference between response of her horses between me and him.
Brandon found my card in a barn north of here and checked out my web site. Then he called me and we ended up having dinner along the New Jersey Turnpike.
Brandon is a big guy like me. He says he was mentored by his uncle, Ed Gager who authored the 1984 book "Sound Mouth - Sound Horse, The Gager Method Of Equine Dental Care" . He has also floated teeth with his cousin Scott Gager in New Jersey as well as establishing his own practice in Montana .
What struck me the most about Brandon when I first met him was his family philosophy of using horsemanship when performing dentistry on the horse. "Wow", I thought. "Someone who thinks like me!"
Brandon said some things that startled me at our dinner. They were things I have said over and over again but have rarely ever heard. One was "Integrity is everything and is all you have at the end of the day." Another was "I really love floating horses." The last was "It isn't work, Doc, if you like it."
Having Brandon work on your horse is such a good experience that many people have called or e-mailed their compliments. A lot of people. I think we are all so grateful to find another equine dentist that believes in horsemanship skills, who makes us laugh when he is around, who the horses absolutely love, and does a great floating!
Maybe he is my brother!
Please welcome him when he comes to your barn.
